Brotherhood

The Brotherhood of Temple Ner Tamid, affiliated with the North American Federation of Temple Brotherhoods, engages in activities to foster the companionship of the men of the Temple and their families. Our annual picnic has evolved to a private picnic and New Jersey Jackal’s baseball game. We sponsor lecture and film events, the Temple Ner Tamid Softball Team and work projects for the physical improvements to the Temple facility such as painting classrooms or the lines in the parking lot.

Brotherhood arranged for and ran several sections of the very successful “Ellis Island Lower East Side Experience” including the candy store, the “egg cream” stand using real bottles of seltzer as well as “charlotte russe” (complete with cherry and whipped cream), and a food cart which has become a fixture in the courtyard.

Additionally, Brotherhood contributes to both the Jewish Chautauqua Society—enabling mainly Reform Rabbis to serve as adjunct professors and lead full semester courses at colleges, seminaries, and theological training institutes—and Beit Halochem, which has rehabilitation centers for injured soldiers and civilians in many of Israel’s large cities.

Brotherhood members are cordially invited to regular meetings at 8:00 p.m. on the second Monday of each month. Sometimes we have ice cream.
